Gearing up for SIP

April 7th, 2010 @ 9:01 pm by Luke

I am so excited to start getting applications coming in for the Savings Incentive Program. This is a really great opportunity for beginning farmers.

Over 6 years, our goal is to get 90 beginner farms complete a “PFI UNIVERSITY” a first-rate farm business planning/mentorship program and get a nice chunk of money at the end to pay for a productive farm asset.
Our goal is to raise $250,000 from a variety of sources (private foundations, individual members of PFI, corporate donations, and others).
Only PFI members and legal Iowa residents will be selected for the Savings Incentive Program. So pack your bags Illinois beginners! Come on over the river. Life is good over here. Oh, and Join PFI TODAY www.practicalfarmers.org/join

While doing some research for our Winter Farminar series that will include some business planning motivation/support topics, I stumbled upon this good resource for entrepreneurs in general. Nothing here is specific for agriculture, but the fundamentals of business are nearly universal.

The search continues…
