The Farm:

Red Fern Farm is a family owned nursery and farm run and owned by Tom Wahl and Kathy Dice. This 86-acre farm in southeast Iowa is the site of ongoing research on a variety of tree crops and forest farming systems. Tom and Kathy raise and sell container-grown tree seedlings and medicinal planting roots well suited for the Midwest.

Directions:

From the junction of Hwy 61 and Hwy 92 near Grandview (watch for the helicopter at the Veterans Memorial): Travel south on Hwy 61 0.5 mile to a gravel road intersection (145th St); go east on the gravel 1.6 miles. Pass through a stop sign, and the road curves south. You’ll see a large tree planting and house on the right. Turn down the lane on the left (across from the white house). Find a printable map with directions: www.redfernfarm.com under the “About Us” section.

Cost:

Because this field day has become so popular and because Kathy and Tom want to keep the quality high, attendance is limited to 50. After 50 registrations, they will start a waiting list. Free to first 50 who RSVP, $25 at the door for anyone showing up without RSVPing.

RSVP: Kathy Dice, phone and email above.
