Playing the GAP Game
Playing the GAP Game: Looking at On-Farm Food Safety
Monday, July 24 | 10 a.m.-Noon
Host: Donna Warhover
Address: 681 State Route 1 | Mt. Vernon, IA 52314
Speaker: Representative from the ISU food safety team
Get ready for a scavenger hunt as farmer Donna Warhover hosts us at Morning Glory Farm, where we will gamify a mock on-farm food safety audit to maximize audience participation and learning. Hear from the ISU Extension and Outreach food safety team about what to expect from a Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) audit, and from Donna about the benefits of getting audited. GAP audits are a voluntary program run through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Though voluntary, GAP certification is required by some institutional buyers, and it can be a helpful addition toward scaling up a vegetable farm.
Lunch will follow the field day.
