Event Overview

Nick Campney of Mundo Lindo Farms has more than 15 years of experience farming specialty crops near Fairfield, Iowa. After outgrowing his 4.5-acre homestead, he purchased 60 acres last year and is converting them to vegetable production with winter and summer cover crops. Nick envisions a diverse farm with perennial and annual food production mixed with hay and native grass plantings.

With new land comes new challenges, and new systems. At this field day, learn how Nick is using cover crops to convert land from row crops to vegetables. We'll hear how he's using no-till practices and a system that maintains ecological fluidity, starting with a few acres of winter squash and other vegetables. Nick will also share his past farming experience and what he plans to do differently in this new location.
