Since 1985, Practical Farmers of Iowa has built a growing network of farmers in Iowa and beyond that represent diverse operations and production practices. Each year, thousands of producers look to PFI for the practical programming we provide using farmer-to-farmer knowledge sharing on traditional and innovative practices. As a nonprofit organization, PFI welcomes your support to continue this work while connecting your organization with valuable opportunities to tap into our network.

Current Opportunities

Annual Conference

Our Annual Conference is held each year at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, over the second weekend in January. Your support of this event helps us provide a much-needed space for farmers of all kinds to meet and network with one another while learning about topics that will help them strengthen their farms and communities. There will be ample time for you to network with our 1,000-plus attendees as an exhibitor during our conference.

Registration for sponsors opens each year in September.

Field Days

Farmer-led field days are the foundation for how Practical Farmers of Iowa fulfills its mission of equipping farmers to build resilient farms and communities. Your support is critical for us to continue providing high-quality (and free) farmer-led learning events. Field days occur on farms in Iowa and the surrounding states from June through October. 

Registration for sponsors opens each year in April.

Midwest Meat Summit

This regional event is presented by Practical Farmers of Iowa as part of the National Meat Summit series. Its goal is to educate and provide networking opportunities for farmers and organizations engaged in all levels of the meat supply chain. The 2026 Midwest Meat Summit will be held in Ankeny, Iowa, on June 17 & 18.

Become a Member

Practical Farmers of Iowa is a membership-based organization, growing steadily each year to now include over 9,000 members in 2025. Members gain access to our email discussion groups, a subscription to our quarterly magazine, discounts to many events and the opportunity to be listed in our members-only organizational directory accessible to anyone on our website.

For businesses, agencies and departments, up to five employees may receive all the benefits of PFI for $150 annually.
