Event Overview
Caite and Jim Palmer started farming together near Castalia, Iowa, in 2012 and began Prairie’s Edge Farm in 2015 to direct-market meat to local customers. They took on Jim's family farm, which had been operating as a dairy since 1888. Now, Jim and Caite are farming the family land in diverse ways to support their growing family. For years, Jim's off-farm job was working at a farm equipment dealership. Join this hands-on field day to learn the basics of engine maintenance and repair. You'll have time to browse a "machine petting zoo," getting hands-on experience before you invest in your own tractor.

A potluck dinner will follow the field day. The hosts will provide a main dish. Please bring a side dish to share.
