Event Overview

Tanner Faaborg of 1100 Farm grew up on his family's hog farm in central Iowa. When he returned home, he set out converting the family's hog confinements into spaces to grow mushrooms. In the process, Tanner turned the farm into a place for cultivating innovation. During this field day, see what the hog barn looked like before his renovations and after. Tanner will explain his process for producing mushrooms, from incubation to fruiting, and discuss the line of value-added mushroom products he has developed. He'll also talk about a pond rehabilitation project on the farm and other conservation efforts.
