About the Trainers

Kate Edwards

Trainer Experience: I am deeply invested in training new farmers. We have many seasonal employees on our farm; some want to farm and some want to spend time outside. But for those that want to farm, or might want to, I believe it's an honor to be intentional about training them well and investing in them. I am excited about this program as a way to formalize this process and really help some of these farm workers who are potential future farmers to get invested in the PFI community. I have taken the Becoming an Employer of Choice training, I have been involved in the past in WFAN training program, I have developed curriculum in the past to teach new farmers and I have trained employees that work on our farm. I was also mentored myself back in 2012 through the PFI SIP program.

About the Farm

Wild Woods Farm provides a community supported agriculture program in the Iowa City area. Our CSA is a subscription service that is designed to help families delight in eating healthy. We follow organic practices on our farm just a few miles north of Iowa City, in rural Solon.  Wild Woods Farm is owned by farmer Kate. We have been serving Iowa City and Solon since 2010. We offer a vegetable and flower CSA with on-farm pickup and wholesale to food banks. In addition to following organic practices, we use cover crops extensively and practice crop rotation.
