Event Overview
Steve Yates and Cary Yates raise row crops and sheep near Monroe City, Missouri. Starting in 2017, they began using cover crops and eliminating tillage. By 2019, they began converting crop acres to pasture and using summer annual forage after wheat. They have improved soil health and their land's carrying capacity by fine-tuning their crop rotation and paying closer attention to soil fertility changes from using cover crops and incorporating livestock.
The Yateses have also seen less weed emergence and greatly reduced fungal and insect pest prevalence. Embracing regenerative practices has prepared them to adapt to changing markets and tougher economic conditions. Steve and Cary look forward to bringing people out to their field day to see and discuss their no-till, cover crops and sheep.
