Jim Kain

Jim Kain joined Practical Farmers of Iowa in February 2025 as the finance director. In this role, he provides leadership and direction to PFI's finance team and helps support all areas of PFI. He views his team’s role as providing helpful and timely information to all PFI staff so they can do their jobs effectively and efficiently while also delivering all necessary reporting information to PFI's grantors.

Prior to joining PFI, Jim was the finance director at Disability Rights Iowa, a nonprofit that advocates for Iowans with disabilities. He has also worked in accounting and finance roles for Kohler Company, Life Care Services and Echo Valley Country Club. Jim has an MBA from the University of Iowa and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Iowa State University.

Jim lives in Ankeny, Iowa, with his wife, Leah, who works at Iowa State University. Their favorite thing to do is travel. When not traveling, you will find Jim on the golf course, playing a board game, doing his best at pub trivia or spending time with good friends.
