Event Overview
Phil Ebert started Ebert Honey in 1980 with only 10 colonies in his backyard in Fairfield, Iowa. In the mid-'90s, Phil's son Adam built the colonies up to 300 hives before Phil started beekeeping full-time in 2000. Now, Phil and his team manage nearly 1,500 colonies of bees in Lynnville and Mount Vernon, along with colonies that travel across the U.S. They also produce beeswax, sell containers for other honey producers and sell package bees and small starter colonies, called nucs. Their operation is always growing, adapting and finding creative ways to make the most out of a changing climate. Join this field day for hands-on experience processing honey and wax.
