If you answered “yes,” PFI’s Habitat Incentives Program is here to help you achieve your goals by providing technical and financial support for several conservation practices. Supported Practices
Row Crops to Prairies and Trees
Receive incentive payments to establish prairies or trees on your corn/soy field. This incentive payment program can be stacked be stacked with any publicly funded cost-share programs such as the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) or Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). This program is eligible only in Iowa.
Prairie STRIPS (Buffer Strips)
Receive a one-time incentive payment to establish prairie strips on your farm through PFI’s Habitat Incentives Program. This incentive payment can be stacked with the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). This program is eligible only in Iowa.
Precision Conservation Analysis
Receive a one-time incentive payment and a profitability assessment of your agricultural fields utilizing precision agriculture data to turn those marginal acres into opportunities. This program is eligible in Iowa and Minnesota.

Petite Prairies
Receive a one-time incentive payment to establish small native prairie on odds-and-ends areas within or adjacent to crop fields, such as roadside ditches, farmstead, berms, etc. This program is eligible only in Iowa.

Note: Participation in Practical Farmers’ habitat incentives program may also include signing a maintenance agreement or contract with a PFI partner, such as the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
