Field Day Recap: High Tensile Fence Build, June 27
Field day attendees came ready to build fence at Wild Rose Pastures, the new property of Ryan and Janice Marquardt, in Van Meter. Ryan and Janice have a herd of Belted Galloway cattle, so installing perimeter fence is a top priority. Hosting a hands-on fence building workshop was a win-win for Ryan and the farmers who attended. Ryan needed a hand and farmer attendees, many just getting into livestock production, wanted to learn how to build high tensile fence.
Ryan and Janice discussed the basics of building high tensile fence, the tools and supplies necessary, the most appropriate uses for high tensile, and what to do or what not to do when building fence. Janice put together a handy-dandy information sheet listing tools and supplies along with the cost of each: High Tensile Fence Build Handout (1) High Tensile Fence Build Handout (2).
