PFI 2017 Conference Videos Available

Keynote – “Pass It On” – PFI members Susan Jutz of Iowa City, Dan Wilson of Paullina and Vic Madsen of Audubon give advice to younger farmers, and share stories from their years of farming experience.
Sustainable Agriculture Achievement Award Acceptance Speech – Longtime PFI members Beverly and John Gilbert of Iowa Falls are awarded the Sustainable Agriculture Achievement Award and give an acceptance speech.
“PFI Business Meeting” – Executive Director Sally Worley gives an overview of the accomplishments of PFI in the last year.
“Lessons Learned, First 10 Years Farming” – PFI farmers Ethan Book (diverse livestock), Kate Edwards (vegetables) and Nathan Anderson (row-crops and cattle) share some of the lessons they’ve learned in their first 10 years of farming.
“Grazing Cover Crops” – Mark Schleisman, who farms near Lake City in northwest Iowa, talks about grazing cover crops with his cattle.
“Feed Formulating Alternatives to Corn and Soy” – Jeff Mattocks, feed ingredient specialist with Fertrell Company, compares the nutritional values of alternative grains and protein sources to corn and soy.
“Farm Financial Record Keeping and Planning” – Rick Hartmann, who grows fruits and vegetables near Minburn, shares financial record keeping and planning processes his family employs on their farm.
“Cover Crops and Conservation on Rented Ground” – PFI members Chris Teachout, a farmer from Shenandoah, and Chris Henning, a landowner from Jefferson, offer their perspectives on landowner-tenant relations with regards to cover crops and other conservation measures on rented ground.
“Cover Crops 201” – Chris Teachout of Shenandoah and Loran Steinlage of West Union talk advanced cover crops: diverse mixes, spring covers ahead of soybeans, and interseeding cover crops into corn in June.
“Building Relationships to Access Land” – PFI members Aaron White of Carlisle, Jim Peterson of Knoxville and Kate Edwards of Iowa City share how they formed relationships and made local connections to access land to farm.
