Jamie Hostetler, of Rolling Meadows Farm in Bellevue, is a local expert in grass-finishing beef. On this call, Jamie walks us through the dos and dont’s of finishing; discusses how to optimize cattle gain; and explains the key visuals to look for on a grass-finished animal. Jamie also discusses grass-finished markets and economic opportunities, sharing how he profited $500 per acre from selling his cattle to an out-of-state market.
Jamie pays close attention to cattle genetics and is trained in linear measurement, which helps to produce tender, high-quality beef. He uses regenerative grazing practices to benefit both the livestock and the land.
