Fencing and Clearing for Silvopasture – Field Notes

Eric and Michelle Heins are bringing livestock back to the land in Altura, Minnesota. In this video, recorded at the Heinses’ June 2025 field day, Eric shares several methods of electric fencing that they use on their farm. He also talks about how they manage invasive species like buckthorn by using a skid loader to clear buckthorn and dense brush along the woods’ edge, seeding grass and encouraging more useable pasture.
