Considerations for Uniform Coverage When Drone Seeding – Field Notes
In this short video filmed at Ben and Katherine De Boef’s August 2025 field day, Ben responds to a question about flying a drone in hilly areas, getting uniform coverage and controlling swath, the strip of land covered in a single pass when seeded or sprayed.
Ben and Katherine operate a corn and soybean farm in Poweshiek County, Iowa. To help diversify their income streams, they have invested in a drone to seed their own cover crops and to contract out to plant covers for other farmers.
