Cover Crops Earn Their Keep With Mike Paustian of Paustian Enterprises & Hickory Grove Cover Crop

Mike Paustian and his family operate a farrow-to-finish hog farm near Walcott, Iowa. They also grow 1,400 acres of row crops, including corn and soybeans, using 100% no-till and cover crops.

“One of the tricky things about cover crops is that a lot of the benefits are most likely accruing over a long period of time,” Mike says. In this video he talks about how he appreciates the expected long-term benefits of cover crops while also evaluating what they’re doing now.
