Balancing Farm Dreams With Family Needs
Balancing Your Farm Dream With Your Family’s Needs

Location

Hosts
Kendra & Kevin Martin | Holdfast Farmstead
Beginning farmers Kevin and Kendra Martin own and operate Holdfast Farmstead. Prior to farming, they captained ships in the Pacific Northwest. A life at sea equipped them with many skills, like how to manage a crisis when your crew is staring at you or how to exist peacefully in hostile weather. They’ve applied these skills to their 53-acre farm.
The Martins found meaningful mentorship in other farmers and allowed themselves time to find the right collection of farm enterprises to meet their family’s needs and year-round income for the farm. These enterprises, for now, include raising Kiko goat breeding stock, along with freeze-dried and other value-added products. Join the Martins at this field day to learn about their journey to farming and how they’re “holding fast” to their farming vision.
