Growing High-Quality Food-Grade Oats

Tuesday, Aug. 11 | 1 – 2 p.m.

DSC 3243A.J. will share insights from two years of adding food-grade oats to a corn-soy rotation. He’ll discuss variety selection and seeding; cover crops; making decisions about herbicides and fungicides; harvest and storage of grain and straw; and benefits and challenges he’s experienced. A.J. will also discuss on-farm research he has conducted aimed at optimizing fertilizer rates in corn following oats and a green manure, and in oats to maximize oat yield and minimize lodging.

Hosts: A.J. and Kellie Blair
