Hosts: Tom Wahl & Kathy Dice | Red Fern Farm | Facebook
The Farm: Tom Wahl and Kathy Dice are lifetime members of PFI who own and operate Red Fern Farm near Wapello, Iowa. Established in 1986, they now grow over 75 species of common and not-so-common fruits and nuts. The farm is the site of ongoing research on a variety of tree crops and forest farming systems, a pick-your-own chestnut (and other fruit and nuts!) operation and container-grown tree seedlings well-suited to the Midwest. Tom and Kathy also raise hair sheep, which they rotate throughout their farm, and are past recipients of PFI’s Sustainable Agriculture Achievement Award.
