Lard-Based Value-Added Products
Lard-Based Value-Added Products
Tuesday, Sept. 16
3-5 p.m.
Location
Clear Lake, IA*
Host
Laura Tidrick, Mossycup Farms
Value-added products can be an important part of a farm business. But current consumer trends have made lard- and tallow-based products especially hot commodities. Laura has been tapping into this market demand for years by making her own range of lard-based products to sell alongside her ready-to-eat products. She sells both types online and through her on-farm store.
In this workshop, we’ll dive into the art of all-natural soap-making. We’ll start by discussing lard: its uses, the process of rendering it and why it’s an excellent choice for making soap. Laura will also cover everything from ingredients and formulations to cutting, storage and marketing.
*Due to the hands-on nature of this event, attendance is limited to 15 participants and registration is required. Complete event details will be provided upon registration.
