Jamie Hostetler and family operate Rolling Meadows Farm in Bellevue, Iowa, where they raise Red Devon cattle for grass-finishing and as seed stock. Jamie pays close attention to cattle genetics. He’s also on a personal journey to improve stored forages by making small changes and “without relying on a silver bullet.” At this field day, Jamie will share the importance of observation, including what to look for as forage grows and characteristics of soil health.
We’ll also hear talks by Tannon Dvorak and Daniel Olson. Tannon, of Dvorak Brothers Ranches, will speak on female efficiency, hormone balance, higher butterfat and performance in grass-fed genetics. Daniel, with Forage Innovations, will focus on forages. You’ll hear about defining high quality, harvesting and storage, soil fertility and understanding a forage test.
