Turkeys, more than most livestock, are raised with a single date in mind: Thanksgiving. That hyper-specificity requires a business and production model tailored to fit perfectly, which can come with some unique challenges. Anna Pesek and her partner, Shae, own Over the Moon Farm, a diversified direct-to-consumer livestock farm in Delaware County, Iowa. Since 2019, Anna and Shae have been serving their community through a CSA and a la carte sales through their online farm store.

Join this virtual field day to learn how they raise turkeys for this singular holiday. They’ll share their turkey timeline and how they deal with preorders. They’ll also discuss the infrastructure set-up needed to raise turkeys on pasture.

Due to biosecurity concerns, this field day is being held virtually.

See & Discuss

  • Raising turkeys from poult to pasture
  • Production decisions around breeds, and more
  • Managing preorders and pricing
  • Infrastructure for start to finish, from brooders and feed to pasture prep
