Underneath the Canopy: Exploring Interseeding, Cover Crop Mixes and Soil Health

Saturday, Sept. 6
11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Location
6331 Ellington Road
Quincy, IL 62305
Hosts
Aleen Mittelberg, David & Dean Dedert, Mike Rice
David Dedert farms with his father, Dean, raising corn, soybeans, wheat, cattle and sheep near Quincy, Illinois. Part of their operation includes being farm operators at Twin Mill Farm, a 90-acre family farm that has been in the Mittelberg family for over 100 years. The farm has undergone a variety of transitions over time, from raising beef cattle to hogs – and now, solely growing row crops. The Dederts work alongside landowner Aleen Mittelberg and farm manager Mike Rice as they transition the land toward regenerative management using no-till and cover crops.
Come join a lively discussion with David and Mike about their use of regenerative practices at Twin Mill Farm. You will be able to see their cover crops in no-till fields and discuss their use of soil health testing.
