Integrating Sheep and Vegetables at Sundog Farm – Pest & Disease Management
Friday, June 5 | 12:30 – 1:05 p.m.
Be ready to follow along with this handout for the field day!
Join Carmen, Maja and the rest of the crew at Sundog Farm to learn how they are addressing challenges on their farm. In this three-part series, you will see how the team manages sheep grazing through their vegetable fields. Carmen and Maja will share how they scout for disease and manage black rot. You’ll also find out how they fill CSA orders for 200 families, as Local Harvest CSA has done for 25 years!
Hosts: Carmen & Maja Black | Sundog Farm & Local Harvest CSA | Facebook
The Farm: Carmen Black owns and operates SunDog Farm and Local Harvest CSA near Solon, Iowa, with her sister, Maja. They raise vegetables for 200 families and graze a small flock of sheep. 2020 is the 25th anniversary of Local Harvest CSA, and Carmen, Maja and the team are looking forward to celebrating the milestone with former owner and farmer-mentor, Susan Jutz, who launched the CSA in 1996.
