Pasture Farrowing: Infrastructure, Scheduling and Seeding

For experienced producers and newcomers alike, scaling up a swine enterprise to include farrowing can be challenging. Jude will share how he manages his organic farrow-to-finish operation and we will see how his waterline and fencing on pasture are set up. Jude will also highlight sow scheduling, controlling herd size and establishing a steady production flow, and provide tips on farrowing.
The Farm: Jude Becker raises organic pork on his sixth-generation family farm, Becker Lane Organic, near Dyersville, Iowa. He directly markets his pork to restaurants and retail locations in the U.S. and Asia. Jude continues to learn innovative ways to retain product value and boost farm income.
