The Iowa Farmers of Color will host the 2024 Iowa Farmers of Color Conference on Nov. 16 in Des Moines, Iowa. This gathering is an invaluable opportunity for farmers of color from all enterprises throughout the Midwest. The day will include opportunities to network and connect, enterprise and business planning sessions, chances to learn about programs from service providers and a keynote address from Denise Greer Jameson.
Denise Greer Jamerson, her husband John and son DeAnthony, own Legacy Taste of the Garden. Denise’s ag-vocacy for farming and farmers is seen in her farm’s mission to “empower Indiana BIPOC farmers, individuals and communities to become self-sustaining and economically sound through education, networking and providing information toward a healthy, sustainable, empowered life.”
Denise’s family has been farming on the same land in historic Lyles Station, Indiana, since before the Civil War. She is now the fifth generation farming that land. Denise’s father, Norman Greer, is featured in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture for his and his family’s contribution to agriculture in America. Join us at the Iowa Farmers of Color Conference to learn more about Denise’s story, goals and legacy.
A social gathering will follow the conference from 4-6 p.m.
