Fall 2015 Cover Crops
This fall has been an especially good one for cover crops. Ample moisture and temperatures (it’s been in the 70s in central Iowa the past few days!). Below are photos taken today (Nov. 4) of experimental plots at Jeremy Gustafson’s farm. Jeremy’s farm in Boone County is one of the locations in the Cover Crop Variety Trial, 2015-2016 edition. These cover crops were seeded into standing soybeans on Sept. 6. Since that date, 8.16 inches of rainfall and 794.5 (base 50˚F) and 1,278 (base 40˚F) growing degree days have accumulated.
