Get the Dirt on Soil Ecology with Dr. Jill Clapperton

By Stefan Gailans

In the spring 2016 issue of the Practical Farmer new member Steve Plate mentions Jill Clapperton’s presentation at our 2015 annual conference as being instrumental to his adopting cover crops on his farm near Rose Hill in Mahaska County. Dr. Clapperton spoke of the benefits to soil microorganisms that cover crops can provide to cropping systems.

“After seeing Dr. Jill Clapperton present about the benefits of cover crops at the conference [in January 2015]… I was ready to try it for myself.”. –Steve Plate from the article “Covering Mahaska County” in the spring 2016 issue of the Practical Farmer.
