Practical Farmers of Iowa Statement on PFI Board Member Wendy Johnson’s Nomination to USDA Farm Service Agency’s State Committee

AMES, Iowa (Feb. 21, 2022) — Wendy Johnson, a diversified crop and livestock farmer from Charles City, Iowa, and a Practical Farmers of Iowa board member since 2014, has been nominated by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to serve on Iowa’s five-member USDA Farm Service Agency state committee.

Practical Farmers of Iowa’s executive director, Sally Worley, released the following statement:

“PFI is thrilled Wendy Johnson has been nominated to Iowa’s state FSA committee. Wendy is a dedicated, knowledgeable farmer who knows how to listen, work with others and cares about creating resilient farms and landscapes.

“We know she will be an asset to FSA and farmers across the state, and will work hard to ensure all those who currently farm or aspire to farm have access to the working lands, beginning farmer and other programs that can help them.”
