MADRID, Iowa (Sept. 2, 2022) — Practical Farmers of Iowa invites the public to a social event and celebration of PFI lifetime member Angela Tedesco’s newly published book, “Finding Turtle Farm,” on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Iowa Arboretum & Gardens near Madrid (1875 Peach Ave.).

The event – “Book Publication Celebration and Member Social Featuring Angela Tedesco” – is being held in partnership with the Iowa Arboretum, and hosted by PFI lifetime member Nan Bonfils. The event is free and will include light refreshments. Sign up online, or call Debra Boekholder at (515) 232-5661.

Angela is a retired vegetable CSA farmer who owned and operated Turtle Farm near Granger, Iowa, for 17 years. As one of the first vegetable CSAs in Iowa, she was a pioneer and mentor to many.

In her new book, “Finding Turtle Farm,” Angela recounts the adventure of starting her farm in 1995, and the “down-and-dirty work and wonder” of introducing Community Supported Agriculture to Iowans.

During the social gathering, Angela will discuss the book and read excerpts, and guests will have a chance to participate in a Q&A with Angela. After the program, attendees are welcome to explore the arboretum free of charge.
