Another season of farmer-to-farmer learning is here! Nearly 60 farms across Iowa, as well as Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin, are opening their farm gates to share knowledge about small grains, orcharding, grazing, agritourism, weed control and more.
Kody and Dahrea Karr farm near Monroe City, Missouri, where they are raising children, sheep, cattle and row crops on nearly 600 acres. They practice no-till, and incorporate summer annual cover crops behind wheat to help during drought conditions and provide green forage for their livestock in the summer slump. The Karrs have also found that cover crops and grazing help break persistent pest cycles and restore diversity and fertility back into corn and soybean acres. Come see these practices in action and learn how the Karrs are hoping to build resilience through an integrated crop and livestock farm.
