Another season of farmer-to-farmer learning is here! Nearly 60 farms across Iowa, as well as Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin, are opening their farm gates to share knowledge about small grains, orcharding, grazing, agritourism, weed control and more.
Robert Broulik farms with his son, Luke, and son-in-law, Tim Keegan. No-till and investment in waterway protection are at the core of their row crop operation. They routinely run on-farm nitrogen and population trials and use precision technology. They also use cover crops, saturated buffers, terraces and a bioreactor. Most of the field day will focus on where Robert, Luke and Tim invest their time and attention – sensible equipment for no-till, reducing inputs, conserving soil and protecting water. We’ll also visit their new cattle barn completed with federal Environmental Quality Incentives Program funds.
