Whannel Farm is located near Traer, Iowa, and is owned by Margaret Stone and her two brothers. Their tenant raises about 150 acres of corn and soybeans; the remainder are 30 acres of established prairie (enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program) and 20-plus acres of woodlands. Join the Stone family and ISU’s Tim Youngquist as they lead attendees on a tour of the farm’s prairie strips and hear the latest results from prairie strips research projects. Attendees also will see an oxbow restored by The Nature Conservancy, as well as a variety of native grasses and forbs.

Lunch will follow the field day.
