Free gathering at Iowa Arboretum will feature Angela Tedesco’s new book about her pioneering CSA farm – Sept. 11, near Madrid

MADRID, Iowa (Sept. 2, 2022) — Practical Farmers of Iowa invites the public to a social event and celebration of PFI lifetime member Angela Tedesco’s newly published book, “Finding Turtle Farm,” on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Iowa Arboretum & Gardens near Madrid (1875 Peach Ave.).

The event – “Book Publication Celebration and Member Social Featuring Angela Tedesco” – is being held in partnership with the Iowa Arboretum, and hosted by PFI lifetime member Nan Bonfils. Angela is a retired vegetable CSA farmer who owned and operated Turtle Farm near Granger, Iowa, for 17 years. As one of the first vegetable CSAs in Iowa, she was a pioneer and mentor to many.

In her new book, “Finding Turtle Farm,” Angela recounts the adventure of starting her farm in 1995, and the “down-and-dirty work and wonder” of introducing Community Supported Agriculture to Iowans.

During the social gathering, Angela will discuss the book and read excerpts, and guests will have a chance to participate in a Q&A with Angela. After the program, attendees are welcome to explore the arboretum free of charge.
