Factsheet: Livestock and Cover Crops

As farmers are placing orders for cover crop seed, now is the time to think about seed mixes for fall and spring grazing or harvesting of cover crops. This factsheet gives recommendations on seed species, seeding rates, seeding methods and costs.  Cover crop yield and feed values are outlined for grasses, legumes, brassicas and cocktail mixes. Also included are farmers’ experiences with manure application on cover crop fields.
