Sean Dengler joined the PFI staff in August 2025 as a farm systems coordinator. In this role, he assists farmers in reducing nitrogen use through the PFI N Rate Risk Protection Program.
Sean gained experience with this program before starting at PFI as a participating farmer. As a PFI member, he also attended PFI field days and spoke at the annual conference. Growing up on a small family farm operation and trying to run it gave Sean a keen sense of the importance of community. This has led to Sean being the parade director for the Urbandale 4th of July Celebration – an event that’s the largest celebration of its kind in central Iowa, if not all of Iowa. Sean also serves on the Urbandale Public Art Committee and coaches at Urbandale Middle School as a boys basketball and girls track coach.
When he is not involved in the community, Sean also writes for the North Tama Telegraph (the premier newspaper of northern Tama County) and on Substack. He also enjoys living a wonderful life with his wife, Kim, and dog, Eevee. When he finds more free time, he also performs stand-up and improv comedy. While he misses running his own farm operation, Sean wants to help other farmers succeed.
