Why do you want to farm?
For the lifestyle, raising the highest quality food possible for our family and offering that same quality to others.
What are you farming right now?
We raise organic fed hogs on pasture and free range organic fed birds for meat and eggs. We also produce lard soap and a variety of value added products.
What’s your vision for your farm?
We’d like to maintain or slightly increase the number of animals we raise currently so that our pastures stay in good condition but grow our farm business by offering more value added products that also help to decrease waste and use every part of the animal
Why do you want to participate in this program?
Having support in turning the corner from a farm that feeds our family to a farm business that is profitable would be a huge help. We’ve made some changes in the past year including constructing an on farm commercial kitchen, farm store and hiring our first employee. I’m hoping that the program will set help us to be prepared for and successful in the next five years.
